Can you recommend any books on church history and Christmas? I know celebrating is a matter of Christian freedom,but would like to dive into this more as it seems today many people in evangelical churches assume that this holiday has always been celebrated as we do and that Santa is historical and I even was told from my mom a few years back that St. Nicholas was a Christian which she read from a resource from Dr. Charles Stanley and that Santa is based on him. a booklet by Peter Jeffery, THE TRUTH ABOUT CHRISTMAS, written for children or to be read to children by their parents.
Nelson publishes a short biography and history of St. Nicholas by Joe Wheeler entitles simply, ST. NICHOLAS. He was a fourth century bishop and friend to the poor and downtrodden and his reputation has been adopted in various countries in various ways.
